Welcome to Drizzld. I’m Marianne and this is my food blog – somewhere where I write about the recipes I create and post photographs that I have taken of my efforts. I live on a beautiful Island in the middle of the English channel, closer to France than to the UK. The Island has definite French influences but is mainly English speaking. Island life is mostly good (bordering on Idyllic), but I am lucky enough that I get to travel a lot and I spend quite a bit of time Toronto. I get the best of both worlds, Island life interspersed with periods of time in big bustling cities!
I am the biggest procrastinator… I should have started this blog years ago! I started blogging under a different name when I was dabbling with a reduced sugar diet but due to my love of the sweet stuff, this was quite short lived! Drizzld does have a number of reduced sugar free recipes amongst the sugar laden ones, which I brought over with me from my old blog! I’m proud of them and I still make many of them.
I am kind of obsessed with all things food. I spend time in my tiny, tiny kitchen (8 foot by 9 foot 😀) creating recipes, conjuring up successes but also making many mistakes, making a mess and generally having fun. I spend way too much time reading about food, researching food and talking about food. I spend even more time thinking about eating and indeed just eating food. My interest in food and cookery started at an early age, and I left school to study cookery at college. I never pursued cooking as a career but have always enjoyed it as a hobby, cooking for enjoyment and eating for fun!
My small kitchen does its job very well but one day I’ll have a big kitchen with stacks of cupboard space, a walk in larder, bookshelves for my collection of cookery books and a large wooden kitchen table for creating, eating and sitting. Until then, I’ll make do with cupboards that are crammed to bursting and saucepans that are balanced precariously on top of my fridge!
My small living space is shared with Lola, the most wonderful, happy, carefree albeit wilful golden retriever! When I am home we walk to the beach most days, and most days she finds something stinking to roll in (think dead fish, rotting seaweed etc). When she is not being revolting she is usually curled up on my sofa watching me work or getting under my feet whilst I’m cooking. When I am traveling she is being well and truly spoilt by my wonderful mum!
So, anyway, I really hope you like the recipes posted on Drizzld. Please do feel free to get in touch with me should you want to ask any questions about any of the recipes that I have posted. Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube – you will find the links at the top of the page and obviously feel free to share any of the photos or videos (as long as drizzld.com is credited).
